Good small 50km ultra for newbies and experienced runners
+ves - Enthusiastic staff, some beautiful views in parts, great weather!
-ves - GPX and marker signs didn't match up well resulting in me and many others getting lost on at least two occasions, plastic medal.... could have been more environmentally friendly e.g. wood
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! It's great to hear you enjoyed the enthusiastic staff, beautiful views, and lovely weather during the ultra. It’s a fantastic event for both newbies and experienced runners! Regarding the plastic medals, it's important to note that while wooden medals might seem like a more environmentally friendly option, the reality is a bit different. The wooden blanks used for medals in the UK travel all the way from China, which isn't great for the environment. In contrast, our plastic medals are made from recycled materials right here in Bradford, just under 10 miles from the start of the White Rose Ultra. This approach not only supports local recycling efforts but also minimises transportation emissions. We also want to acknowledge the concerns about the GPX and marker signs not matching up well. We've put out an open apology on social media regarding the gpx and markers, explaining the situation, and we appreciate your understanding as we work to improve the experience for everyone. Thank you for being a part of our community!
Varied and challenging 30 miler
Small and friendly event.
Fantastic helpers at feed stations and great meal at the finish
Course was challenging to follow with some differences between markers and gpx and added to the challenge of the event.
Thank you for your feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the varied and challenging 30-mile course, and it's wonderful to know that you appreciated the friendly atmosphere and fantastic support from our helpers at the feed stations. We understand that navigating the course can be tricky at times, and we appreciate your insights regarding the markers. Your feedback is invaluable as we strive to improve the experience for future participants. We hope to see you again at our next event!
Deliciously brutal race with lots of roads, mud, ups, and downs...Good navigation essential!
Although it clearly states that if you have a crew you will be disqualified, I saw at least 2 different runners who had a crew meet them at various points between CPs. This was disappointing, but no reflection on the organisation of the race, just a shame some runners choose not to stick to the rules. Also, lots of markers missing, so use of gpx was essential...but that just added to the fun! Finally (and this might have just been me?) the tracker link wasn't working when I checked it. It showed the route, but no runners. This was about 10am and I didn't try it again. Overall a well-organised race where mental toughness is perhaps more important than physical strength or fitness.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts! We're glad to hear that you found the race to be a deliciously brutal challenge filled with varied terrain. It's great to know that you enjoyed the navigation aspect, even with its complexities - embracing the mud and ups and downs truly adds to the adventure! We appreciate your feedback regarding the crew situation and the missing markers. While it's disappointing to see some runners not adhering to the rules, we're committed to ensuring a fair experience for everyone. Your observations about the tracker are also noted, and we’ll look into that for future events. Overall, we're thrilled to hear that you found the race well organised and that it tested your mental toughness as much as your physical fitness. Thank you for your insights, and we hope to see you again for another exciting challenge!
